Thanksgiving Break Information

turkey

Thanksgiving break begins at the end of classes on Tuesday, November 22. Dining Halls will close after dinner, and will reopen on Sunday, November 28 at 4:30 pm, for dinner.

If you are going away for the break, be sure to close and lock your windows and doors. Also, if you have a thermostat, do not turn the heat off but please set it low in order to help conserve energy. Make sure your alarm clock/radio/stereo is not set to go off in your absence.

If you are staying here, please inform your RA by completing the sign-up sheet posted on their door. There will not be many people around during the break. Your RA will be able to give you an idea about who is staying so that you know who is supposed to be in the hall. Be extra careful about not letting strangers into the building and keeping doors locked at all times. Public Safety is available for any concerns you may have. You may contact them at ext. 6656 or for an emergency ext. 6611.

Have a safe, restful, and Happy Thanksgiving break!

Preparing For Winter Break

When you return from Thanksgiving Break, there are only two weeks of classes remaining for the Fall Semester. That's not much time to do all that you need and want to do before the winter break.

As you plan for the next few weeks, please note the following:

  • You will receive a memo with residence hall closing information. Please read it and be aware of your responsibilities and available services.
  • Twenty-four hour quiet hours will be in effect beginning at the end of classes on December 9. Check with your RA or RD if you have any questions.
  • If you want to decorate for the holidays, remember that open flames, including candles, are not permitted, nor are live greens, trees, wreaths, etc. The use of string lights will be permitted between November 1 and January 1 only. Any lights or electric decorations must be UL approved and designated as indoor lighting. Only miniature lights may be used. Lighting cannot be mounted on doors or doorframes, extension cords or plugs must not cross doorways or go through windows. Lights must be unplugged when unattended.
