Troy city schoolsElementary school-aged children may be enrolled in School 14 of the Troy City School District. The school offers grades kindergarten through five. A school bus stop is located on the outskirts of the family housing area. Older children attend the Doyle Middle School and the Troy High School, both located on Burdett Avenue within walking distance. Samaritan-Rensselaer Child Care CenterThe Samaritan-Rensselaer Child Care Center is a NYS licensed child care facility providing quality child care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years. It is located near campus, at the corner of Peoples and Burdett Avenues. It serves children of the Rensselaer community and Samaritan Hospital staff. Care is provided on weekdays 12 months per year, from 6:30am to 5:30pm. The intent of the program is to encourage and support individual development. It provides opportunities for self-exploration and discovery and a variety of experiences indoors and out. For information about registration and fees, contact the center at 271-3748. The Campus PlayschoolThe Campus Playschool at Rensselaer provides a stimulating environment in which 3- and 4-year-old children can learn through play. The emphasis of the program is on building self-confidence and encouraging each child to develop his or her own capabilities. The Playschool is administered by parents, who serve as officers and assist in other areas. Classes are from 9:00 to 11:30 in the morning, mid-September through mid-June.
