Design & Arts (D.Arts)

Design & Arts (D.Arts) is for students who have a personal interest in exploring the intersections of design, arts, media, and technology. This theme house appeals to students in Architecture, E-Arts, EMAC, GSAS, or DIS programs, and any student with an appreciation of design and arts themes. In past years, students have enjoyed free tickets to exhibitions, art shows, and events around campus. D.Arts has also offered optional workshops guided by faculty and students in order to learn new techniques and software, as well as, opportunities to work collaboratively and solve design problems with fellow students from similar disciplines. Most importantly, you will be in a community of students from various backgrounds and majors that share a dedicated interest in design and the arts, which will further develop an intellectual understanding of design and the arts and further your Rensselaer education. D.Arts is located on the second floor of Cary Hall and is a partnership between the Office of Student Living and Learning and the Office of Undergraduate Education.

Sample events for students involved in D.Arts:

  • Attendance at EMPAC Performances
  • The Elephant in the Room: An Introduction to Evernote
  • Design Proposal Writing Workshop
  • Book Binding Workshop
  • Indesign/Illustrator Workshop: Introduction to Portfolio Making
