Family Housing

We're glad you decided to take a few moments to learn about family housing at Rensselaer. Whether you are an undergraduate or graduate student, a family of two or a family of six, you will find much to share with others in the family housing community.

One word that comes to mind in describing the family housing community is "diverse." We house students and families from many countries, with no single one (not even the United States) having a distinct majority. Throughout the apartment areas, you may see residents wearing native clothing, often given an American flair with practical Northeastern coats and boots in winter. Dinnertime brings the aromas of home cooking from homes from all over the world.

Approximately 100 families live in family housing at Rensselaer. About 75 percent have children. They live in two different styles of apartments with various configurations of rooms and space, with one to three bedrooms each.

What follows is a brief introduction to the facilities and services in the family housing program at Rensselaer. It is designed to give you an overview of your options for living in our community. Further information is available from our office and other publications.
